Hey Black Sheep: Take your Two Bags Full!
Dealing with Burning Man trash is a shared responsibility. Everyone who camps at BRC and The Twisted Swan needs to help manage the waste we create together.
To ensure our community leaves no trace, each camper is asked to transport at least two bags of Burning Man trash off-playa and dispose of them properly. Even if you took the Burner Express Bus (it’s actually part of your bus ticket conditions.)
During the week, our trash will be in our camp trash area if you took the burner express or bummed a ride. IF YOU DON’T COLLECT YOUR TWO BAGS, you will have nightmares on your lover’s pillow. We are serious here.
These bags will be of a reasonable size. Please make sure you have space in your vehicle for these two bags, and those of your passengers (and their trash too!).
If you have any issues with your assigned trash bags, please see one of the Twisted staff for options AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK.
It is your responsibility to dispose of your assigned Burning Man trash bags appropriately AND RESPONSIBLY. Ideally, you should take them home for disposal. DO NOT use one of the unlicensed vendors along the highway. More often than not, it is not properly disposed of, and creates a major health hazard to the local indigenous tribe, and also area wildlife.
However, if carting the trash all the way home is not possible, here are some alternative locations where you can dispose of your trash and recycling (current as of 2024). Remember, if you are leaving on Monday, it is a US holiday and some locations may be closed:
